Defense Industry Training Grant
Wayne State University, in partnership with Macomb Community College, is launching the Defense Employment Transition Program (DETP). The DETP is a comprehensive re-employment program created specifically to meet the needs of the unemployed, underemployed, veterans, and displaced workers – both white and blue collar. This unique program offers foundation skills for the professional in transition and is highly customized to meet each individual’s needs.
This 10-week program offers:
- Individual Assessment
- Personal Strategic Employment Plan
- Professional Coaching
- Education Workshops and Clinics
- Mock Interviewing

Macomb Community College, through a Department of Labor Grant, is now offering FREE training that provides the skills to fill job openings within the defense sector.
Supported by a $4.9 million grant from the Department of Labor, Macomb Community College is developing and providing training to better position unemployed workers, under-employed workers, dislocated workers and veterans for jobs in the defense sector in southeast Michigan.

Oakland Community College, in partnership with Macomb Community College, is launching the Oakland Community College Defense Grant. Scholarships are available for unemployed, underemployed, dislocated workers, and veterans to compete for jobs in the defense sector in Southeast Michigan.
Oakland Community College is offering the following training programs for Winter 2012:
- CISCO/CCNA
- UGNX
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Preparation
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Server Adminstrator

Automation Alley IT Career Pathways Project
Automation Alley Information Technology Career Pathways Project (A2IT) provides eligible youths and dislocated workers with information technology training and industry recognized certifications in:
- Internet & Computing Core Certification (IC3)
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
- Comp TIA A+
- Comp TIA Network+

The No Worker Left Behind (NWLB) Program is no longer available through Troy Michigan Works! Remaining funding for the program will be used to continue to fund the individuals who have already begun their training through the NWLB Program.
